Core Role in Marine Conservation
BCCS is the only association actively conducting coral reef conservation and preservation activities within Tun Mustapha Park around the Banggi Island area.
Our Members
Our members consist of passionate youth and women united by a shared commitment to protecting and preserving marine ecosystems for future generations.
What We Do
Marine Conservation & Community Action
We protect marine ecosystems in Tun Mustapha Park through research, enforcement support, and community involvement. Our team includes Park Rangers recognized by Sabah Parks and Honorary Wildlife Wardens appointed by the Sabah Wildlife Department. We help patrol marine areas, monitor illegal fishing, and protect coral reefs. We conduct coral reef monitoring to check reef health and record marine life. We also work to stop destructive fishing practices such as fish bombing and fish poisoning (Sujum). Through education and awareness programs, we encourage sustainable fishing and responsible use of marine resources among schools, fishermen, youth, and village leaders.
Our Focus
• Protect coral reefs • Support marine enforcement • Stop destructive fishing • Promote sustainable practices • Empower local communities
Our Impact
With over 20 years of conservation involvement, 80 registered members across Banggi Island villages, and active collaboration with WWF Malaysia, Pejabat Daerah Kecil Banggi, Sabah Parks, Reef Check Malaysia, Department of Fisheries Sabah, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Polis Marin Malaysia, and Sabah Tourism Board, we continue to conduct reef health monitoring and marine protection initiatives to safeguard Banggi Island’s marine ecosystems for future generations.
